Sanjay Nirupam wants Congress to view 'Indu Sarkar'

5th July 2017

Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film 'Indu Sarkar' starring Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Supriya Vinod in the lead is running into troubles right now. After a controversy about its release now Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam wants to ensure that the leaders portrayed in the film by the prime characters are not shown in bad light.

The film revolves around the Emergency period of 21 long months in the 70s and we have also seen the original footage of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the trailer. During the period of Emergency, the political atmosphere was curtailed and many political leaders were jailed.

In a letter to the CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani Nirupam said, "The trailer of the film says it is a film on Emergency and hence we can see the likes of our beloved leaders like Indira Gandhi ji, Sanjay Gandhiji & senior leaders of Indian National Congress. We therefore want to be certain that our leaders are not shown in bad light & hence would like to see the film before it is censored."

Kirti Kulhari is the main protagonist of the film and will portray the character of a woman who is against Emergency, Neil Nitin Mukesh will be seen as Sanjay Gandhi and Supriya Vinod will be seen as Indira Gandhi. The political satire is all set to hit the theatres on July 28, 2017.
