M. Sasikumar has come down heavily on the Sri Lankan government for allowing Tamil films to be screened in the island nation only after pro-Tamil dialogues, if any, are completely deleted.
"This is totally unfair. Hence I have decided not to release my forthcoming film Porali in Lanka. I am not going to sell the foreign management screening rights, otherwise called as FMS, to anyone in the neighbouring country," said the actor-director-producer.
Speaking to a Tamil weekly, he said, "An important income channel of Sri Lanka can be blocked if Kodambakkam (Tamil cinema) wants to do so. Because cinema and tourism are the backbones of Sri Lankan economy. When the government there allows Tamil movies only after deleting pro-Tamil dialogues, why should we release our films there."
"Of course, a part of our revenue will get affected by not releasing Tamil films in Lanka. But we should not allow our films to make money in the island country when our brothers and sisters are suffering there. So I have decided not to sell the FMS rights of Poraali to Sri Lanka," he added.
