Veteran actress and Shabana Azmi's mother, Shaukat Azmi has been recently admitted to a South Mumbai hospital.

Shaukat Azmi is a noted theatre and film personality who has been down with chest congestion and is undergoing treatment for the same while Shabana spends the nights at the hospital.

Shaukat was married to poet, Kaifi Azmi and through her career, she was associated to Indian People's Theatre Association, Progressive Writers association and Prithvi Theatre.
