August 30, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): India is currently the No 1 country when it comes to road accidents, and Shiboprasad Mukherjee wants to do something about it. The Keshtopur road accident in 2008, sparked Shiboprasad's interest and he started writing a script with Nandita Roy involving road mishaps. The upcoming movie will be based on events that go on before and after a road accident.
The writer-director duo Shiboprasad and Nandita started researching on the events that unfold after a road accident occurs in Kolkata. The movie will also focus on the difficulties faced by families in terms of filing insurance claims. The feature film has been named 'Accident'.
According to Shiboprasad, the movie will involve four main characters; a bus driver, a bus owner, a man whose daughter gets run-over and an insurance investigator. The movie will try to depict the event through the eyes of each character and how it changes their lives. The film will also depict how life returns to normalcy right after the accident and how we fail to learn our lessons.
The film will raise a very important question regarding who should take the blame for recurring accidents on Kolkata roads. The catch line of the movie will be "Sob Dosh Pothocharider noi" (The jaywalker is not at fault most times).
We hope that this movie inculcates some sense of traffic into the common people of Kolkata.
