Stella McCartney to show at sustainable fashion event

16th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - London Fashion Week will host its first ever sustainable fashion show tomorrow.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has organised the event, which will showcase the work of various environmentally friendly fashion labels.

Established names such as Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney will be previewing their ethical designs, and will be joined by emerging labels such as Junky Styling and People Tree.

The BFC has selected creative consultant and fashion editor Chloe Kerman as the shows stylist as she feels very passionately about making fashion eco-friendly.

"I am really looking forward to being involved with this exciting new project," she told the British edition of Vogue magazine.

Chloe explained how much ethical fashion has changed recently, insisting it has shed the unglamorous image it used to have. She says people nowadays care much more about the environment than they did in the past, and this has had a knock-on effect on fashion houses.

"Sustainable fashion is very much in a transition. As people begin to consider their social responsibility as consumers, designers are really starting to consider this philosophy as part of their process.

The range of creative talent showcased here just goes to show how stunning ethical clothing can be, in the end it has to be about great design and beautiful clothing," she added. (C) Cover Media
