Steve Carell: Julie Andrews is scary

11th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steve Carell has said that Julie Andrews is horrifying.

The Hollywood actor joked that the British actress who plays his evil mother in their new film Despicable Me terrified him.

Steve lent his voice to the character Gru, a villain who wants to steal the moon in the 3D computer animation, and admitted that Julies cunning role is against the nature of the usual role she plays.

In real life she is horrifying I dont know if you know her, he joked during an interview. Yes in real life she does play against type and she is almost unrecognisable and Russell Brand plays my assistant and his voice is almost unrecognisable as well.

Steve - who also voiced a character in animation Over the Hedge - says his children are big fans of his work in family films.

However, nine-year-old Elizabeth and Johnny, six, have begun irritating their father by mimicking the voices of squeaky yellow characters in Despicable Me called Minions.

I like to think of them as little yellow pieces of candy that are vaguely human and assist you in all your evil endeavours. Everyone needs some of these, Steve, 48, said. My kids have now seen the movie a couple of times and they now love to talk they have their own Minion language. (C) Cover Media
