Steve Coogan tired of being turned down

3rd January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steve Coogan refuses to attend some auditions in Hollywood because he knows he wont get the part.

The British comedian has tried to crack America in recent years and has appeared in films such as 24 Hour Party People and Around the World in 80 Days. He also lined up alongside Hollywood star Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum.

But Steve believes his efforts have been hindered due to the mindset of some directors. The 45-year-old who made his name on UK television - thinks these filmmakers are put off by his own perceived boldness.

If I find theres a British director involved, I wont bother taking the meeting. I know exactly whats going to happen. Theyll tell me how great I am and then not give me the job, he told the British Daily Telegraph.

Speaking about his attempts to make a move into movies, Steve admits he is not the central figure he wanted to be.

However, he thinks being a bit-part character can have its advantages as he still gets paid handsomely in Hollywood.

No I look at it as being a nice sort of holiday because its someone elses gig and Im just a hired gun. Its quite nice just to turn up and be very well paid for it. I mean, its easy, he explained. (C) Cover Media
