Steven Tyler: I snorted sleeping aid

18th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steven Tylers infamous stage tumble in 2009 happened after he had snorted a prescription sleeping aid, he has revealed.

The Aerosmith rocker was playing at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota with his band in August 2009 when the accident happened. Steven lost his footing as he was dancing on a catwalk, resulting in him falling backwards.

He was airlifted to hospital suffering from neck and shoulder injuries, but eventually recovered. In December of the same year the star checked into rehab to be treated for an addiction to prescription painkillers, and he has now spoken about that time in his life.

It's not any news here about my drug use and addictions in the past, he said on The Late Show yesterday. A couple years ago, I was doing Lunesta because of some problems with my feet.

Steven explained things got so bad he convinced himself the insomnia treatment worked best if he sniffed it through his nose.

That shows you what kind of a drug addict I was... only the finest for me... I was looking for any excuse to get high, he admitted.

The 62-year-old battled drug problems earlier in his life too, and wishes he hadnt wasted so much time with the substances. He now realises music is what makes him truly happy, which is one of the reasons he is now a judge on American Idol.

When the curtain goes up and there's 80,000 people out there, its the biggest rush in the world and I need to chase other things? he said. Not anymore. (C) Cover Media
