Tax hike for Dookudu and Oosaravelli

15th November 2011

High claims by producers of Dookudu and Oosaravelli, about distributing a large number prints of the movies, have attracted the attention of tax officials.

"We are issuing notices to the produces to pay taxes according to the number of prints being distributed," said CTD Deputy Commissioner Usha Rani.

Regardless of the films success or failure at the box office, the producers are publicizing the films with big claims. Moreover, amidst all the chaos, it is difficult to judge which film is in fact doing well.

Recently, Badrinath disclosed that Dookudu made a collection of Rs. 16 crore in 3 days, while BVSN Prasad, producer of Oosaravelli claimed that his film made a collection of 56 crores in the first week. Mahesh Babu has posted on a social networking website that Dookudu has officially made the highest profit of late.

It is expected that atleast after receiving the Tax Notices the producers will stop claiming big.
