(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Script have revealed it was difficult for them to hear other people singing their songs.
The Irish band enjoyed global success with their 2008 self-titled debut album which spawned hits including We Cry and The Man Who Cant Be Moved.
It hasnt always been plain sailing for the group comprising singer Danny O'Donoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power.
Mark and Danny started in the industry as songwriters - producing songs for other artists. Mark, 29, has admitted it was frustrating to pen tracks and hear other musicians perform their material.
Myself and Danny moved to Los Angeles and we there for around ten years writing and producing for other bands. We had kind of relinquished everything up to just writing for other artists. It was frustrating because when you have written a song that you have poured your own emotions and heart into, then someone else comes along to do it, it is very hard for them to play that role. So its easy for us to sing our own material, guitarist Mark told a British TV show.
The indie band have continued their assault on the charts with their follow-up album Science & Faith. Danny says they are grateful for their loyal fan base who have supported the second album, as it is easy to have a one-hit wonder in the music industry as far as records go.
Everyone says about the amount of pressure when you are working on the second album. And it tends to be nowadays in the music industry that if you dont have a good second album they will just cut you, thats it you are gone, Danny added. So we were very lucky that we have people who love the songs and who came out in their droves to buy the second album. (C) Cover Media
