The general council meeting of the Tamil Nadu theatres owners' association was held in Chennai on Monday, in which a resolution was passed requesting Chief Minister J Jayalaltihaa to allow its members to screen five shows per day.
Talking to journalists after the meeting, president of the association, Abirami Ramanathan said, "Many movies these days run for two hours only. So we request the Chief Minister to allow us to operate five shows daily."
He also requested the Tamil Nadu government to fix ticket prices based on facilities in cinema halls. "Members of the association should strictly follow the rules and regulations laid by the government," he urged.
Expressing gratitude to Jayalalithaa for allowing films to get tax exemption, however with certain conditions, Ramanathan said office-bearers of the association would soon meet the Chief Minister in person to put forth their requests.
