Vijay addressed thousands of his fans recently at Bangalore's Poornima Theatre, where two trailers of his forthcoming film Velayudham were screened. He also attended the inaugural of a jewellery store, of which he is the brand ambassador.
Once he entered Commercial Street, where the gold showroom was located, he was mobbed by his fans who wanted Vijay to just wave at them. Not only were many of his fans lathi-charged by the police on the occasion, some were even injured and had to leave disappointed as none of them could speak to the actor.
Speaking to his fans at the trailer launch at Poornima Theatre later, he said, 'Velayutham is a special film for me. I have acted in many films which have been filled with commercial elements. You have liked my films for their quality in picturisation of songs and fights. But Velayutham is one film which is focused on an issue besides being packaged with lot of commercial elements.'
He added: 'It's been some time since I last came here and I'm glad to have met my fans in Bangalore. The way I was welcomed here was exactly the way I am welcomed in the theatres in Tamil Nadu. And I must say that right from my first film, I have received tremendous support from the audience here. It's a great moment.'
