(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Whitney Houston reportedly had a secret affair with married Jermaine Jackson.
According to British newspaper The Sun Sunday, the romance began in 1984 and ended a year later when Jermaine refused to end his marriage to Hazel Gordy for the international superstar.
The older brother of Michael Jackson is said to have inspired the video that year for the late singer's famed Saving All My Love For You.
Despite the affair ending abruptly, sources have told the publication that the pair never lost touch with Whitney comforting Jermaine following Michael's untimely death in 2009.
When Whitney was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel last month, Jermaine was left shattered by her passing.
"Her death has devastated Jermaine because of the history between them," a source told the newspaper.
"No one understood the scale of his grief because they didn't know what they shared."
Jermaine has previously approached the subject of his friendship with Whitney in his book You are Not Alone: Michael, Through A Brother's Eyes. However, the reported affair was never mentioned, despite revealing he forced himself to repress his feelings for the late songstress at one point.
"As much as I wanted to lose myself in all these feelings, I told her to wait. Ultimately, we had to go our separate ways and it killed us both," he wrote in the tome.
The insider added to The Sun that Jermaine deliberately left out details of his relationship with Whitney.
"The reason it ended was because Jermaine wouldn't leave his wife - and Whitney was angry. The video for Saving All My Love For You was about all of that," the source added.
Jermaine and Hazel split three years after his reported affair with Whitney, after a longtime union of 14 years.
Whitney and Jermaine remained friends up until her death last month.
Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey has landed the first interview with Whitney's 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. The TV host will ask the teenager and other family members questions, in an interview that is scheduled to air on the Oprah Winfrey Network on March 11.
