(Cover) - EN Star Style - Reese Witherspoons Water for Elephants costume designer has dished the details on the stars outfits.

The stunning 35-year-old actress appears in the romantic drama alongside British heartthrob Robert Pattinson, and her character Marlena dons some rather interesting pieces.

Costume designer Jacqueline West has revealed the profound meanings behind all of Marlenas outfit choices, including a beautiful red gown which clings to the actress curves in all the right places. Robert plays Marlenas love interest Jacob, so wise outfit choices for scenes starring the pair were fundamental.

"The red dress I thought was a great symbol of her infatuation with Rob, the first time that they danced in the speakeasy and they kiss in the alley, and I thought that's red for amore," Marlena told MTV.

The movie is set in the 1930s so both Robert and Reese got the opportunity to explore period fashion. Christoph Waltz also appears in the film, playing Marlenas husband August. Jacqueline says the choice of outfits reflect transitions in the films plot. "The first time we see [Marlena] she's in a white dress. That's when she's still hopeful of becoming this famous, famous circus act and her marriage is still intact with August, even though he's difficult in that scene... she's still very hopeful," added the designer.
