YRF responds to Devgn's legal notice

2nd November 2012

Just a few days back Ajay Devgn filed a complaint against Yash Raj Film (read news) for the unfair use of their banner to achieve the front row to fame. But YRF have come back with bold statements retaliating against the accusitions made.

Here is what one of YRF's spokesperson had to say regarding the same, "We would like to clarify at the outset that we still haven’t received any notice from the Commission and will suitably represent our stance if and when called upon to do so."

Apparently, accordingly to Devgn, YRF had made an agreement with the theatre owners for 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' as a joint package. But YRF rubbished the claims stating, "Exibitors were happy to play out Yashji’s movie considering their long standing and emotional relationship with the banner and that a Yash Chopra/Shah Rukh Khan movie, coming after a gap of eight long years, did not need any coercion for contractual screening."

Further adding the spokesperson said, "Of the 10,500 plus single screens available on an all-India basis, we have booked less than 1,500 single screens, an industry norm for an A-lister movie. If this was an issue, why wasn’t it raised earlier?"

While all this has been happening, Ajay Devgn and the team of 'Son of Sardaar' had a meeting with the theatre owners at Eros office asking them to give a fair chance to all.
