Ajay Devgn's next 'De De Pyaar De' which is a romantic comedy and first ever collaboration with 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' fame Luv Ranjan was all set for a March 15 release but has now been postponed to May 17.
According to the makers, the decision was taken to avoid the close time period of the actor's same film 'Total Dhamaal'. A source close to the development of the project informed a leading daily that the maker chose May 17 as the new release date as no big-budget film is releasing on that Friday.
The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh of 'Yaariyan' and 'Aiyaary' fame and Devgn's 'Drishyam' and 'Golmaal Again' co-star Tabu. This also means that this Ajay Devgn starrer will clash with Tigmanshu Dhulia's 'Milan Talkies' that features Ali Fazal in the lead.
Bhushan Kumar, who is producing the film with Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, confirmed the news saying, "DDPD is a commercial entertainer and deserves a good release date and we don't think Total Dhamaal and our film should release within 15-20 days of each other. May 17 is a good date."
DDPD marks the directorial debut of Akiv Ali and Ajay's return to rom-com genre. His last film of this genre was 'Dil Toh Bacha Hai Ji' (2011). On the work front, Ajay Devgn is set to produce 'Turram Khan' which is supposed to star Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha. He is currently busy filming the climax of the highly anticipated 'Taanaji'.
