Past week release Chandraprakash Dwivedi's directorial 'Mohalla Assi' starring Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar in the lead turns disastrous in the box-office. What takes over this multi-starrer film is a 2-year old Myra Vishwakarma's 'Pihu' raking in 45 lakhs on day 1.
The film is about an innocent two years old trapped in her apartment and the havoc she creates in this time is actually inspired by true events. Whereas Mohalla Assi is Deol's another fail at the box office after 'Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se'.
The film is based on events from 1990's to 1998 following the making of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya as well as the conclusion of the Mandal commision's report. The film has merely minted 25 lakhs on its first day which is disastrous.
Film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted "#Pihu - an edge of the seat thriller revolving around just one character: a 2-year-old child trapped in an apartment alone - had a slow start on Day 1, but the positive word of mouth should help witness an upturn on Day 2 and Day 3... Fri ₹ 45 lakhs. India biz."
Mohalla Assi is a project dated from 2012 as the film was put on hold by CBFC since 2015. Although this is a back to back flop for Deol after 'Poster Boys' and YPD 3 and he will now be seen in his upcoming film 'Bhaiaji Superhit'.
