What started as a dream for debutant director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has turned into reality!
The year 2017 started for the brilliant filmmaker on a great note as she won Best Debut Director award for her internationally acclaimed film, 'Nil Battey Sannata' at the Filmfare Awards 2017 whereas her husband-filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari bagged Best Director Filmfare award for the Aamir Khan-starrer 'Dangal.'
Receiving two awards in the family certainly makes it a double whammy for Ashwiny, who was also honoured with the Best Debut Director award for her maiden attempt at the Jagran Film Festival 2016 last year.
Ashwiny says, "I am thankful to receive this important black beauty (Filmfare trophy). It just makes me believe that even more that no matter where you belong to and who you are, you have the right to dream. Thank you Filmfare. Gratitude."
Produced by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions, Eros International and Jar Pictures, 'Nil Battey Sannata' featuring Swara Bhaskar, Ratna Pathak Shah and Pankaj Tripathi was also screened at the prestigious film festivals including Silk Road International Film Festival in China and BFI London Film Festival last year.
Swara, who portrayed the role of a determined mother in the inspiring family film, also won Best Actress Award at the Silk Road International Film Festival.
Ashwiny's next, 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' is a quirky and fun entertainer featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon.
