The outspoken singer was raised to be prudent with her money, and insists she regularly checks her bank statements. Avril also revealed that she makes sure the people who are handling her fortune are behaving responsibly.

"It's very important to stay on top of your finances and ensure that people are doing their job properly," she told Q. "That was something I was sure of doing very early on when I started my career."

The 26-year-old singer signed a $2 million recording deal when she was 16 and has sold millions of records worldwide. However, while she likes to make sure that her finances are in good hands, she is always polite to the people she works with.
