(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Bret Michaels has proposed to Kristi Gibson.

The 47-year-old American rock musician has been dating Kristi on and off for the past 16 years and they have two children together; Raine, ten, and five-year-old Jorja.

Bret asked Kristi for her hand in marriage on Monday nights season finale of his reality programme Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, and she was more than happy to accept.

Bret has revealed the first thing he and Kristi did was share the good news with their beautiful daughters, who were thrilled to hear of the engagement. The rocker told People how happy he was to let his daughters know they would be part of a family unit for good.

"I did it! We'll all be together forever! Family hug!" he reportedly told the little girls.

Bret was nervous his 39-year-old partner would reject his marriage proposal, and even told her a rebuff would ruin his life. He cant believe they are still together after suffering so many ups and downs, and feels blessed to have Kristi in his life.

He reportedly got down on one knee and asked the beauty "to be my wife, adding, Please say yes or the rejection will kill me right now."

Bret suffered a near-fatal brain haemorrhage in April, and feels lucky to be leading such a happy life. He has described his wife-to-be as the one who put up with me all these years. (C) Cover Media
