30th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Brigitte Nielsen admits she feels "helpless" after discovering her son has another brain tumour.

The model-and-actress has revealed that her youngest son, 16-year-old Raoul Jr. will have to undergo a series of operations to remove the growth. Doctors discovered a benign tumour in his head when he was just nine, but he has been living a healthy life since. However, the teenager underwent further tests recently when he was involved in a scooter accident and the new tumour was detected.

"When my son was nine he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour and you feel so guilty and confused and angry," Brigitte said in an interview with British television show Lorraine. "How can you be lucky to have an accident? When he was nine he was almost two years in the hospital, now he is 16 and I thought he was going strong and he overcame it. But four days ago they called and told us the tumour is back. Because he had a scooter accident, he had all the tests done and they saw there was bleeding and they found it was back in his brain.

"What's amazing is that they are just so much stronger than we are. I just feel so helpless."

Brigitte who has three other sons - has revealed that her son is coping well with the news and feels optimistic about his treatment. In fact, he has been reassuring her that he will be fine and she has been seeking support from children's charity Rainbow Trust.

"He is going to be going through some major operations and brain operations are never good," the 47-year-old star added. "So of course it's tough, he is 16 and he likes to be with girls and look good it's a long process and it's a tough process. But I spoke to him yesterday and he was like, Come on mom I am going to be just fine!'

"So it is a tough moment but it just encourages me even more. I always thought, It can't happen to me, it will happen to some other family.' But it could happen to anyone." (C) Cover Media
