Brooke Mueller choosing outpatient drug rehab

12th December 2011

Brooke Mueller is getting the help she needs and has chosen an at-home treatment, it has been confirmed.

The 34-year-old former wife of actor Charlie Sheen will undergo a rigorous outpatient rehabilitation treatment that will mean she has regular and random drug testing.

Brooke is said to have agreed to this type of rehab so that she will continue to spend time with her children; two-year-old twins Bob and Max.

Her representative Steve Honig has confirmed that Brooke will be treated during the day and when she leaves the facility she will remain "under expert supervision 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week."

"Brooke has requested to be tested on a daily basis for cocaine and other illegal substances so there is no doubt as to her commitment," Steve added.

The troubled former actress was arrested for cocaine possession with intent to supply on December 3 in Aspen.

She has tried several treatment programmes over the years but her rep said that she wanted to try something different this time which will allow her children to continue to have a regular routine.

TMZ also reported that Charlie will not seek custody of the boys and agrees with Brooke's choice of an outpatient programme.

"Brooke will retain custody of her children, both of whom will continue to remain at her home and be cared for by Brooke and their longtime nanny," Steve said. "Charlie and Brooke's family are all fully supportive of this decision and recognise the importance of maintaining the children's normal routine."

Brooke's most recent brush with the law comes nearly two years after the former Two and a Half Men star allegedly held a knife at his then-wife's throat in Aspen.
