The American singer is currently dating NBA star Amare Stoudemire and would love children, but has decided to make the most of her music career at the moment.

Ciara says timing is important, as becoming a teen mom would have ruined her plans to achieve her dreams and aspirations.

My career is something Im proud of, and it means a lot to me. I love kids, and I cant wait for that moment, but its all about timing and the right timing, she revealed in an interview with the American edition of OK! magazine. Ive always kept that in my mind, and that motivates me to be the best I can be so I can do that, and eventually sit down and enjoy myself. But because of my career, I want to be smart, and get what I can get out of life before taking that step so I can be a good mom.

The 25-year-old says its imperative for children to understand the concept of love and sex. She has been honoured for her work in preventing teen pregnancy with The Candies Foundation, and wouldnt shy away from discussing reproduction with her kids.

I would have a real talk with them, and do things that I feel like women should do. A lot of times when were young, parents sugarcoat things. They dont ever shoot it to you straight, so the things that Ive learned, I would like to share them with my kids, she explained. Just give it to them real.
