October 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Famous comedy actor-turned-politician SS Chandran passed away on October 8 due to a severe cardiac arrest. The reports state that he had traveled to Idumbavanam near Tiruvarur district to take part in his party meeting. Soon after the meeting, he was on his way back to the lodge when he suddenly complained of chest pain. Immediately, he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he breathed his last. He was 69 years.
SS Chandran had a praise worthy journey in film industry. Making his debut in films at the age of 14, he acted in 800 films that include some of the all-time hits of Tamil film industry like Sahadevan Mahadevan, Kathanayagan, Once More, Uzhaippaali, Thangamani Rangamani, Maappilai and Paatti Sollai Thattadhey.
SS Chandran is survived by two wives, two sons and two daughters. His son Rohit debuted as the lead in in Oru Murai Sollividu.
The actor started his political journey in the DMK Party. Later he joined the ADMK and became a MP.
