The Chennai city police have issued summons to Sun TV Network chairman and managing director Kalanithi Maran to appear before the investigation officer of K K Nagar Police Station on Thursday.

Kalanithi Maran, who was summoned a couple of weeks ago to appear before the police, has sought permission to appear on any date after July 26th. On Tuesday, which was July 26th, police issued fresh summons to him.

A senior police officer said, "We have summoned Kalanithi Maran for questioning in connection with the cheating cases. He has sent a letter through his counsel seeking time. We have accepted his request. We waited till July 27th and issued fresh summons to him."

The KK Nagar police have registered two separate cases and arrested Sun Pictures chief operating officer Hansraj Saxena on July 3rd. A police team also picked up Saxena's close associate Ayyappan a few days later. The police summons to Maran follows some statements Saxena had given during his interrogation, reports said.
