(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John has joked Lady Gaga is the daughter he never had.

The legendary singer is good friends with the outrageous pop star and the pair performed live together at the Grammy Awards in January. Elton is a huge fan of Gaga and is impressed with how she continues to push the boundaries of the music industry with her sound and fashion sense.

The 63-year-old star who is in a civil partnership with David Furnish feels such a strong connection to 24-year-old Gaga he sometimes thinks they must be related.

She is kind of like the b*****d daughter of Elton John, he laughed during an interview on Live with Regis and Kelly. If I had a daughter it would be Gaga, no doubt. She has the same penchant for high shoes, shes great.

Elton was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Gaga recently, when they recorded a duet for new animation Gnomeo and Juliet. He has revealed the pair had a great time laying down vocals for the track and he believes people will love the finished results. Elton insists he is flattered by comparisons between his electrifying stage shows and Gagas live performances, but says the singer is developing her own unique personality.

She is influenced by so many people you can see it, David Bowie, he replied when asked if Gaga has been influenced by his career. She is like all of us, when I first started out I was influenced by people and then you gradually form a character of your own.
