(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John says his son has turned him into a wreck who sings gibberish.
The 63-year-old musician and his partner David Furnish welcomed son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, who was born via surrogate, on Christmas Day last year. The pair are enjoying every minute of being parents, and Elton cant believe how much it has changed him. He knew he would feel an overwhelming love for his son when he first saw him, but says the emotion was even stronger than he had anticipated.
How cute is he? Beyond. But I mean all parents will say that of their own child but I must just say hes only five weeks old but those five weeks you cant imagine how much love has come out of that little boy for us and us for him. Its been incredible, Elton explained. I knew it would be incredible but honestly, Id be lying if I said I hadnt been so shocked. Im like a gibbering wreck in front of him, I sit there and make up songs and sing to him in gibberish. When youre trying to get him to stop crying or to sleep, David does the same, we sing gibberish. Now is our chance to make sure we do a good job.
The couple have a nanny who helps look after Zachary, but they are also very hands on. They each have their own shifts when it comes to their son, with David taking care of late night feeding and Elton completing the morning duties.
The musician would never dream of paying someone to look after his son at all times, revealing he wants to be totally involved in all aspects of the tots life.
Im an expert in childrens stories now. Its opened my eyes. We have days when nanny has the day off and we do the whole thing and its great. If you dont get entrenched youre never going to know about your son or daughter are you? he told British television show Daybreak.
The age thing crossed my mind a bit. I said to David in the old days, Maybe Im too old. And then I thought, You know what? Im a young 63, lets go for it. I knew Id get criticised, you cant please everybody and were not stupid people, we knew that we would get a lot of flak from certain areas but we can rise above that and bring our child up in the proper way. At the end of the day its not anybody elses business. People are always going to have a point of view. (C) Cover Media
