After creating a lot of buzz about the starcast of the film, finally Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead went on floors on November 1, 2016. CEO of Bhansali films Shobha Sant confirmed the news on her twitter handle by posting a picture of the clap board.

Ranveer Singh has started shooting for the opening sequence of the film at Filmcity in Mumbai.
