Freida Pinto has slammed claims she is a diva.

The Indian actress has been saddened by reports she is bossy and unapproachable. She insists they couldn't be further from the truth, explaining she was particularly upset when the rumours spread to her country of birth.

"When I was promoting this big-budget film, some Indian media reported that I was being a diva on set, and that's the reason I did not want to come to India to promote the film," she told Flaunt magazine.

"I'm like, What? I'm in f**king America. That's why I can't promote the film in India.' It's not easy to be in two places at once. It's not true."

The 27-year-old star also took part in a sexy photoshoot for the publication. She is seen posing in 50s attire, wearing a green Bottega Veneta corset dress which shows off her cleavage and boasts a thigh-high split.

Freida's normally-long brunette locks are hidden beneath a short, curly wig, and another shot sees her in skin-tight trousers and a polka dot bralet.

The actress goes on to discuss the way filmmaking has changed recently. Focusing on the Bollywood movie industry, Freida is glad to see women are now more on a level with men. She praises actress Kareena Kapoor for paving the way for females.

"Now, it seems to me, even taking Indian cinema in consideration, I feel like this year we've kind of experienced a shift in humanity," she said.

"In India, actually, there has been a large disparity in how much a female and male actor gets paid, but this year, one actress changed all that."
