(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gemma Arterton likes playing sl**ty characters so she can understand promiscuous women better.

The 24-year-old British actress has enjoyed various different roles in her career, including raunchier characters such as Tamara Drewe in the eponymous new comedy by Stephen Frears.

Gemma says playing journalist Tamara in the movie - who goes on to have numerous flings with characters played by Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans and Roger Allam - gave her a clearer understanding of the vulnerability she thinks promiscuous ladies often suffer from.

Shes a bit of a sl*t really. A tart! the actress told the British edition of Glamour of her character in the film.

But its good to play those characters to try to understand them. Tamaras successful, beautiful, has all this male attention, but actually shes desperately lonely and sad.

Fortunately for Gemma she doesnt have to worry about getting enough attention from men as she married her Italian lover Stefano Catelli in the summer at a private ceremony in Spain.

Gemma says married life is treating her very well, and admits one of the things she loves the most about her husband is his modesty.

Oh, he is so hot. And he doesnt even know it, hes so humble. Hes gorgeous! And Im pretty chuffed about that, she gushed. (C) Cover Media
