Isla Fisher: I dont want normal roles

2nd March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Isla Fisher feels she wont get typecast because she never plays normal characters.

The 35-year-old Australian actress is well known for playing rather kooky characters in hit comedies such as Wedding Crashers. She is currently promoting animated movie Rango, in which she voices the character Beans. Isla never worries about being typecast as shes always played a variety of characters ranging from a manic shopping addict in Confessions of a Shopaholic to a wacky lizard in Rango. She admits she would find it odd to play somebody who wasnt slightly mentally unhinged.

Ive been lucky with the characters Ive played, theyve all been flawed and had something unusual about them. I dont think Id ever wanna play like a normal girl, seems a bit boring, she laughed in an interview with Collider.

Isla discussed her preparation for voicing Beans, admitting she had to work hard at perfecting an American accent. The talented actress watched plenty of movies featuring accents from the American South to get into character, including 1987 comedy Raising Arizona.

I wanted [Beans] to sound a little Clint Eastwood-y. I just watched a bunch of Westerns, I watched Raising Arizona 500 times, she added. (C) Cover Media
