After questioning producers of 'Dhookudu', income-tax officials reached the residence of actor Mahesh Babu on Thursday and gathered information about his income and also reportedly checked some documents.

The actor, along with his wife Namratha and son Gautam, were reportedly present at home when the officials arrived and answered the queries posed by the officials.

“It was not a raid but a few officials visited us for some formal investigation. They made some enquiries about his remunerations and also checked a few records,” said a source close to the star.

The actor who has been shooting in Film City for the last few days, had taken a break on Thursday to spend time with his family and was at his residence. The income tax officials asked him about his income and specifically about his share, if any, in the profits of Dhookudu.

“He has been a dutiful taxpayer but some false rumours about his share in the collections of 'Dhookudu' has been doing the rounds though he didn’t get anything beyond his regular movie fees. The rumours might have instigated this investigation,” the source added.
