Jackson family plan alternative tribute

6th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Members of Michael Jackson's family are planning an alternative tribute tour to the late singer.

Tito and Rebbie Jackson are to collaborate with producer David Gest to honour their legendary brother. They will play a series of dates in the UK and Europe next year.

The show will feature Jackson family friend Deniece Williams and an intimate Q&A session with the audience.

Gest says the whole show will be a lasting tribute to the iconic musician.

"The majority of the show will be reminiscences and stories about Michael that the public has never heard," he said.

The tour, named A Jackson named Michael: Remembering a legend, will begin next March.

The new tour comes after opposition from Jermaine and Randy Jackson. They claim October's Michael Forever concert in Wales is in poor taste because of the impending Conrad Murray trial. They think it's inappropriate to stage such a high-profile event before the criminal case has been tried.

Murray goes on trial this month charged with Michael's involuntary manslaughter in 2009.

Michael's mother Katherine Jackson has given the concert her full support and plans to take his eldest two children, Prince, 14, and Paris, 13.

Beyonc Knowles, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have all been confirmed to perform at the October 8 event. (C) Cover Media
