Jake Gyllenhaal remains modest about success

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal doesnt consider himself to be a leading man.

The 29-year-old actor shot to fame in cult film Donnie Darko, and has gone on to enjoy success with his roles in smash-hit movies including The Day After Tomorrow and Brokeback Mountain.

Jake also portrayed the lead male in this years action blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, opposite British beauty Gemma Arterton, confirming his status as one of Hollywoods top actors.

Although Jake understands some people may perceive him as a big Hollywood star, he doesnt like to focus on whether hes cast in a lead or a supporting role.

I dont see myself like that at all, he told Total Film magazine when asked how he feels about his leading male status.

Thats very result-orientated. Ive been like that at different times in my career, but at this point Im not. I think people look at me a little bit like that, but I dont.

Jake admits he still feels out of place among big movie stars like Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage, despite being an established actor. Jake grew up idolising stars like Tom, so it feels strange to now be considered their equals.

Ive been the lead in a lot of different movies but its never been about that. Its funny. I was at some event for Prince of Persia and Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage were there. And there I was standing with them thinking What the hell am I doing here? he laughed. (C) Cover Media
