(Cover) - EN Showbiz - James Franco plans to recreate retro sitcom Threes Company for Broadway.
The American actor is currently appearing on cinema screens in harrowing film 127 hours, for which he has been nominated for an Academy Award.
James has also been busy creating a temporary art installation in homage to classic US comedy series Threes Company, which ran from 1977 to 1984 and charted the relationship between three single roommates. The actor recently unveiled his construction to onlookers at the Sundance Film Festival, after getting special permission from the shows originators, and it has now been revealed he plans to take his interest in the programme further.
"When we came here, then the Three's Company people contacted us like, 'What's going on?' So we had a talk with them, and they realised what we're doing is a cool thing. Otherwise, there's no other circumstance where Three's Company would ever play at the Sundance Film Festival, he told MTV.
The celebration was so well received; James admits there may be future projects in the offering. He confirms that the enthusiasm garnered means he may have to take his passion to the stage.
"They were like, 'Yes, we've been trying to figure out ways of bringing it back in some form or another. We want to do more projects with you. So now, we're planning and this is serious Three's Company, the off-Broadway play, itll probably be a couple years, he enthused. (C) Cover Media
