Jennifer Lopez: Artists must take risks

21st June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jennifer Lopez believes it is a pop star's job to "push the envelope".

The 41-year-old songstress is currently enjoying success with her seventh studio album titled Love?.

Jennifer appreciates the "raunchy" performances of stars including Rihanna and Lady Gaga. The stunning star says the charts would be a very "boring" place without artists taking risks with their stage antics.

"I think it's part of our job to push the envelope and test the boundaries, and if you don't, it kind of gets boring. So I love everything. I'm an artist and I love that's what they do. You can't ask them to not be who they are," she explained in an interview with British magazine Star.

Jennifer has advised that people in the public eye should always remain true to themselves. The star's comment comes after British singer Cheryl Cole was sensationally axed from the judging panel of the highly-anticipated US version of X Factor after it was claimed she didn't gel with American audiences.

Jennifer, who impressed with her mentoring on the panel of American Idol this year, claims Cheryl just needs to be herself wherever her job takes her next in the world.

"Yeah, you've just got to be yourself. It's fine," she added. (C) Cover Media
