(Cover) - EN Showbiz - John Stamos pretended to be sick for a week so he could practice singing ahead of his stint on Glee.

The actor plays a dentist called Carl Howell in the American show, which is about a high school singing club. He was thrilled to discover he would be making an appearance, but admits the thought of singing and dancing in front of professionals made him shudder.

John has previously appeared in Broadway plays and played drums with the Beach Boys, but feared his musical talents were a bit rusty. My secret is that they don't even know and I hope they're not reading this I faked I was sick for a week and I went to my singing coach and sang every day, he laughed. Then they said, 'Come in for the dance,' and I was like, 'I'm sort of sick today, can you just show me?' I videotaped it, and I rented out a studio, and I've been going there every single night. I'm not a natural singer and dancer. I can get to the finish line, but it takes me a lot longer than everyone else."

John is well-known for his portrayal of Dr. Tony Gates in US medical series ER. Although he plays a dentist in Glee, he says the experiences of shooting the two parts couldnt have been more different.

"I learned the same amount on Glee as I did on ER being a doctor. Actually, it's way worse, he said. I was used to ER, where they are so specific and you have to do this exactly right and hold the needle. Here, I asked if I should be wearing gloves and they were like, 'Ah, who cares?
