Jonathan Rhys Meyers' relapsed'

30th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jonathan Rhys Meyers' visit to hospital was due to an overdose not an alleged suicide attempt, it has been alleged.

Paramedics responding to an emergency call found Jonathan slumped over on the floor of his apartment on Tuesday. Although the barely conscious Tudors star refused treatment, authorities rushed him to hospital in an ambulance against his wishes.

He was treated and discharged from hospital today. He has battled an addiction to alcohol from some time and it has been alleged this incident was a relapse and not an attempt by Jonathan to take his own life, as has been claimed.

"He did relapse but he did not try to commit suicide," a source told People magazine.

Jonathan recently left a five-star rehabilitation centre in South Africa where he spent time trying to tackle his affliction.

"When I do drink I'm like Bambi. I'm all over the place like a 16-year-old kid," Jonathan is quoted as saying.

This hospitalisation is reported to have involved pills in addition to alcohol.

Jonathan's representatives have no comment on the situation. (C) Cover Media
