Justin Bieber is intent on remaining "positive" in the face of fatherhood allegations.
The 17-year-old singer was hit with a paternity lawsuit by Californian woman Mariah Yeater. The 20-year-old woman has since dropped the case against Justin, although she maintains that the star is still the father of her three-month-old son.
Justin, who claims he has never met Mariah, will not let all the controversy surrounding the issue adversely affect his disposition.
"As far as the whole baby situation, you know it's unfortunate that it had to happen like that - that people make false accusations," Justin told Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on New York's Z100 radio station this morning. "But things happen in this industry and you just have to keep your head high and be positive, and that's all I really have to say."
Justin is not a fan of negative press and has found Mariah's lawsuit difficult to contend with.
"You know what, they say that any press is good press. I do not believe that's true," Justin explained. "Because you know, at the end of the day, if you're in the spotlight, then people are looking at you as a role model. So if you're doing bad things to be getting press I think that's really, really sad."
Justin avows that he is not the father of Mariah's child. Instead of draining his energy on this situation, the crooner is more interested in philanthropic goals he has for this year's holiday season.
"I mean right now I'm focusing on my Christmas album Under the Mistletoe and on the music and the charity we're doing. Christmas time is a time for joy and happiness, so that's what I'm thinking."
Under the Mistletoe was released this month.
