Lady Gaga: Critics aren't important

5th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga was told to stop wearing shoulder pads early in her music career.

The singer's colourful costumes and energetic live shows have propelled her to superstardom. However, she faced opposition at the beginning and the star now believes her success is down to not listening to music industry bosses.

"I pay no attention to critics," she told the British edition of OK! magazine. "If I were to change or create my work based on reactions, I wouldn't be where I am today. Nobody believed in me when I started out. Everybody said, I don't understand your music. What is this thing with you wearing shoulder pads? You're just a white girl'. In one way the reaction has been exactly as I like it to be."

The pop star is famed for her impressive work ethic. Most of the money she makes goes on her stage shows, and she rarely has any down time. When she does find a moment to relax she tends to watch movies, or sometimes television.

"Sometimes I like to watch monster films, sci-fi and some talk shows but that's about it," she said. (C) Cover Media
