(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga likes to keep herself "separate" from politics and believes that affairs of state "constrain things".
The 25-year-old superstar singer is not interested in pursuing a career in politics. When asked if she would be like to become President of the United States for one day, she gracefully declined the possibility.
"Well, first of all, I wouldn't want to be president for the day," Lady Gaga told MTV News Thursday on MTV First: Lady Gaga live television special. "And I say that because I really, for myself, it's important that my message, although it has political implications, I like to keep myself separate. Because politics can constrain things. So our message can be completely free of any politics and we can just surge forward."
Lady Gaga is not shy about pursuing political activism. She has spoken out against the American military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell homosexual exclusion policy before. Some of her music also has implications, with song Americano touching on US immigration issues.
Although she is not interested in pursuing a career in the governmental sphere, she is still very vocal about her political beliefs. Should Lady Gaga hypothetically become president there are many causes that she would stand behind.
"I would find alternative uses of energy, I would make marriage equal," Lady Gaga proclaimed. "And world peace. Well, I would do everything I could with the debt crisis, but we all know that's going to take a little while."
Lady Gaga will be opening the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28. (C) Cover Media
