(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga has had a lot of "a*shole" boyfriends who have betrayed her.
The flamboyant singer's new record, Born This Way, is out later this month and she's already released several tracks from it. One of them is called Judas, and she's been discussing the inspiration for the song. While many expect it to have roots in religion due to the title, Gaga revealed she was stimulated to pen it by something much closer to home.
"I've had lots of ex-boyfriends betray me - a*sholes, we all have them and in particular there was one who loved Judas Priest, loved heavy metal," she told MTV UK for a new show called MTV Meets Lady Gaga.
"Originally I began to write the song about an ex-lover, who betrayed me, who loved heavy metal music and then as I started to write the lyrics, I thought about Judas and the biblical implications and how Judas was the betrayer."
Song Judas has been slammed by many religious communities, but Gaga insists the track is misunderstood. She wants people to watch the promo and really think about the message behind it, explaining it's much more positive than many expect.
"I thought of a more beautiful and liberating way to tackle the message of the song we attack the idea by saying my ex-boyfriend betrayed me and this person in my life haunts me but I forgive them and we'll move on to make room for what's good," she explained.
Today was a good day for Gaga as she was named the most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine. Oprah Winfrey took the top spot last year, but fell to number two.
"Lady Gaga tops our power list not just because of her $90 million in earnings, but also because of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers," Forbes explained.
Justin Bieber placed third, and at 17 is the youngest star to make the list. Coming in at number four were Irish rockers U2, with Sir Elton John rounding out the top five. (C) Cover Media
