Lindsay Lohan was harassed by her peers in school as a youth.

The actress was dismayed to hear about Whitney Kropp, a young high school student who was elected homecoming queen as a prank.

Lindsay, who started working in Hollywood as a child, was always the butt of jokes.

"I was actually bullied @ my public school when i would leave to film. Whenever I came back girls & boys would call me names (sic)," Lindsay Tweeted Tuesday.

"They would also mock me because of my home situation, when people found out that my father was in jail."

Lindsay was tormented heavily by her classmates and she ultimately decided to depart from traditional schooling entirely.

"They would yell things, try to trip me & moreI moved to home-schooling instead. In 11th grade. I stuck it out for a while," she said.

Lindsay's upcoming made-for-TV Lifetime network movie Liz & Dick, which focuses on the highly publicised relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, will air in November.
