Lindsay Lohan: I need to prove myself

28th February 2012

Lindsay Lohan says she accepts she needs to "prove" herself.

The 25-year-old actress has made headlines over the past few years for negative things rather than her acting talents.

And now with her probation requirements ending in March and new work opportunities coming her way, the Mean Girls star is delighted at being given another opportunity.

Lindsay is set to appear in a new interview with The Today Show's Matt Lauer where she talks about hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend and being cast in the starring role of a new Elizabeth Taylor biopic.

She says that she hopes executives in the entertainment industry learn to trust her again so she can fully get her career back on track.

"I think that that's gonna take I think that takes time," she told the host in the interview airing on Thursday. "And I think it's actions."

"People can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with SNL, being on time, being, you know, keeping my can't say the word stuff together.

"I could see where it could be scary for people to invest in me. And I don't want people to have that reason to be scared anymore.

"So being able to have this opportunity with SNL and the film, I'm gonna do what I'm supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can."

Lindsay was known as being a wild child and for partying a lot but she says that's now a thing of the past and she is "clean and sober."

"That's not my thing anymore," she revealed. "I went out actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable."

"Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn't fun for me. I've become more of a homebody. And I like that."

And in her new role as Elizabeth Taylor, Lindsay says she is diving right into the part and becoming immersed in the character.

"We start production soon," she explained. "I've been doing tons of research. But I've always kind of researched her. She's always been a fascinating woman to me. So I'm really honoured. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself."
