(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan is painting to relieve the stress she's suffering while under house arrest, according to sources.

The troubled actress began her confinement on Thursday morning at her California mansion, after turning herself in to the Lynwood Jail just hours earlier. Lindsay, who was convicted of theft after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 necklace, was given four months in jail but was eligible for house arrest because of jail overcrowding issues.

The 24-year-old star is now painting in her townhouse in order to relieve the stress. According to American website TMZ, Lindsay "stocked up" on canvases so she can use art as a way to relax.

A source also told the website that Lindsay is looking at her confinement as "a time to relax, focus on her recovery and figure out her new game plan for her life and career."

Lindsay, who is reportedly reading a "stack of scripts" in solitude to decide on her next film project, may be released from house arrest before her birthday on July 2. (C) Cover Media
