Lynn Collins says starring in John Carter changed her "360".
The actress plays Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium in the Andrew Stanton-directed movie alongside Taylor Kitsch and Willem Dafoe.
Lynn has explained what attracted her to the movie, and says the live action science fiction had a profound effect on her.
"It's such a multi faceted movie and multi-faceted script that what clung to me was that Andrew Stanton had taken [something] from WALL-E into this movie that is about awakening and awareness. The social undertones between the planet Earth and the planet Mars," she explained. "This process became very spiritual for me. There's so much spirit [in the film]. Some movies show a whole bunch of heart. I think this movie is a lot of spirit and a lot of soul.
"Completely [changed me as a person]. I walked in with beliefs and one way of looking at myself, and I stand before you now, I would say 360."
Lynn has described how she got into character.
The 34-year-old star changed her way of thinking and acting in order to convincingly portray the competent and capable adventuress.
"When you're playing strong, you can't play strong, you have to be strong. You can't play brave, you have to be brave," she explained to Cover Media at the UK premiere of John Carter.
"I had to stretch myself to do this character justice and to so Andre Stanton justice. Then when you leave the film and you go back into your real life, I was left with these amazing qualities that I had summoned."
John Carter is released in UK cinemas from March 9.
