(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mel Gibson and his estranged wife Robin have finally reached a divorce agreement.

Robin filed for divorce in 2009 citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the breakdown of their 29-year marriage. Court papers state that they actually separated in 2006.

Her lawyer Laura Wasser appeared in a Los Angeles court today to inform the judge that the former couple had reached an agreement on the terms of their divorce and are just doing the "final polishes" on the paperwork.

Mel and Robin are parents to seven children but only one of them is a minor their nine-year-old son Tom.

The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement so it is reported that Mel's $900million fortune will be evenly split.

They will officially be single again later this summer when the divorce is finalised on August 30.

Soon after Mel and Robin separated it was revealed that he had struck up a relationship with Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva and the pair had a daughter, Lucia in 2009. Their relationship broke down after she accused him of assaulting her.

Mel is now on probation after he pleaded no contest in the misdemeanour battery case. (C) Cover Media
