(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Miley Cyrus parents Billy Ray and Tish are divorcing after 17 years of marriage.

Country singer-turned-actor Billy Ray and beautiful Tish - real name Leticia - were considered one of Hollywoods happiest couples, having spawned global television and music superstar Miley, 17, as well as 16-year-old Braison and Noah, ten. Billy Ray also has two adopted stepchildren and a son from a past relationship.

It has been reported the pair filed divorce papers in Tennessee yesterday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split.

Billy Ray and Tish released a statement explaining how tough this period has been for them, and thanking fans for their support.

"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers," said the couple.

In an interview with E! Online, a source close to Billy Ray and Tish was keen to quash rumours a third party had been involved in the rupture. The insider also claimed the break-up had been brewing for a long time.

"It was a long time coming. It is the best thing for both of them," said the source. (C) Cover Media
