It was all about John Abraham vs Akshay Kumar as we saw two Independence Day release. While 'Satyameva Jayate' kick-started with a staggering opening day box-office collection of 20.52 crores, the 2nd day saw a huge drop as it raked in 7.92 crores. It saw a low as it was a working day. Again on Friday, it gained the momentum as it collected 9.18 crores. It stayed constant on Saturday too by collecting 9.03 crores and it saw an upward trend on Sunday as it collected 10.26 crores. This John Abraham starrer now stands at the total collections of 56.91 crores.
Whereas Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold' minted 25.25 crores and then it saw a huge drop on the 2nd day by collecting 8.10 crores. On Friday, it saw some upward trend by collecting 10.10 crores. On Saturday, it raked 12.30 crores came and on Sunday it closed with 15.55 crores. Now, the film stands at the total of 71.30 crores.
Both the films have done great business thanks to the Independence Day and the Parsi New year falling one after another. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''And the biz multiplies on Sun... Both, #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate have recorded strong figures over the *5-day extended weekend*... Combined biz is approx ₹ 125 cr nett [+/-]... Ironically, approx one-third biz [of ₹ 125 cr] was accumulated on #IndependenceDay alone.''
Although, the Akshay Kumar film had the upper hand as it released with over 3,050 screens in India, as compared to John Abraham's release with 2,500 screens. Still both the films are equally doing great with good word of mouth reviews.
