They say that star attraction always helps a film to go for a wider reach. And this is exactly what has happened to rising star Rajkummar Rao's four year old film.

The three-minute film called 'Bombay Mirror' was released on YouTube last week and has become the talk of the town. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Maurya and directed by Shlok Sharma, the film revolves around communal violence.

'Bombay Mirror' was shot four years ago but unfortunately it never got a formal release. The rising popularity of Rajkummar has now got the film the much needed attention. Rao who recently won the national award for his performance in 'Shahid' is happy that the film got its due attention.

"We didn't have any plans around it. During those days, I had completed shooting Dibakar Banerjee's 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha' and was sitting free when Anurag Kashyap called me and asked me to be part of this short film. They were making a series of such films then. We literally shot this one in a few hours at a salon in Andheri," he said.

Rajkummar further added that it was the fate of the film to gain attention at the right time. "I had only seen it right after it was shot. It's only last week that I started getting messages from people raving about the film. They told me how moved they were. I'm really happy for Shlok. We just wanted to put forward this message about secularism and communalism. I'm glad that's come across well. I guess it was meant to release now," he added.
